Description :
Fred Duesenberg built this engine for the 1930 racing season.  Destroked the Duesenberg Model A engine to 244-c.i. (for higher revs),  Developed an entirely new single overhead cam cylinder head for it, with:  Desmodromic valve action, (i.e., the camshaft both positively opens and positively closes each valve).  Modified porting and water jacketing for racing requirements.  Spark plugs moved to a central position in the top of the head.  Two of the eight Duesenbergs in the 1930 Indy 500 race had this new 244-c.i. engine; one of those finished in fifth place.
