Description :
Ford teamed up with Cosworth in 1967 to create the Cosworth DFV engine. This engine was developed for competition on the F-1 circuit. Jim Clark drove the Cosworth powered Lotus 49 to victory in it's first ever race. The DFV would win three more races that year and finish third in the championship standings. Cosworth competed with the DFV until 1986 when it was replaced with the Cosworth HB. Capable of turning 10,500 RPM, this engine had a compression ratio of 11 to 1.
